Great place, why?¿? due to the service. The youngman, Kieran, who over sees the front desk duties, breakfast mayhem duties plus bear watching to name a few all at the same time, with a genuine smile on his face, positive, welcoming and encouraging attitude with a predominant drive for happily taking care a peoples needs and brightening their day.. he genuinely loves what he's doing and makes the patrons feel cared for and respected, and having fun,,..five stars is not enough!!! Whoever hired him deserves a kudos and a raise!!!!!!!! Also, whoever hired the young woman Kiah, she goes above and beyond as well, they have the utmost positive attitudes and professionalism!!!!!! In this day they a rarity !!!! Also adding, the rooms clean, loved their layout, breakfast was awesome to have included, views fantastic and the hotel location is ideal!!!!!! Keep up the enjoyment and you all keep having a FUN-astic time,.. because you do it for the people!!!!!!!! :)

Our stay at the Appenzell was absolutely fantastic, largely thanks to the incredible staff who went above and beyond during an unexpected snowstorm. Patty & her crew got us out during an unexpected snowstorm; their friendliness and dedication really made us feel looked after. The location was a short drive or reasonable walk from the town and the lake, and we loved being so close to the national park. The room itself was nice, especially the fireplace which kept the whole place cozy during the snowy days. The kids loved the pool & us the hot tub, which was the perfect way to unwind. Between the smores, waffle breakfast and the welcoming atmosphere, it was exactly the kind of family getaway we needed. They are friendly & good with kids.

We had such a great stay! We got the two bedroom suite with two king beds and it was awesome. The view was beautiful, the interior was really nice, and the huge jetted tub was definitely a highlight. The pool was great too, and everyone on the staff was so welcoming and friendly.The free breakfast the next morning was a perfect way to end our trip. We had so much fun and definitely wished we had stayed more than one night. Super family friendly and we will definitely be back!

We stayed here for 4 nights. Breakfast was basic- cereals, breads, waffles, yogurt, coffee, juice. Today was the only day that fresh fruit was offered (apples). Evening s‘mores were nice. Our room was small but cozy. A bit of an odd set-up with the tub/shower in the main bedroom. There was one male staff member that was super friendly and helpful, but all the others were a bit standoffish.

Our experience at Appenzell in was lovely. Bathrooms were a tad dated, but everything was clean. We enjoyed the nightly smore pit with supplies and the breakfast. Our daughter enjoyed the playground when we came back from a long day of hiking and the rest of us were wiped out. The biggest downside was that the hotel rooms did not have locks that were high up. Our 3 year old was able to open the hotel room door independently. If you have a child who elopes or is a sleepwalker this might not be the best fit for you. Hopefully this is something Appelzell can address to meet the needs of families with extra needs.
