We LOVED our stay at Estes Mountain Inn! The room was spotless and the service was incredible. They had s’mores every night, popcorn in the lobby, and the daily breakfast was a lot better than I had expected. They had a waffle maker, hard boiled eggs, assorted cereals, breads, and yogurts. Great for kids too with a playground and pool. We will definitely be back!
I came to Estes Park with my family and originally planned to stay at Appenzell Inn, but they were fully booked. Since Estes Mountain Inn was the closest option and connected to where my family was staying, we decided to book here.
Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. The location is convenient, and every staff member I interacted with was kind and professional, but the condition of the hotel does not match the level of hospitality the employees tried to provide.
The room was absolutely unacceptable. It was very outdated, had a strong smell of cigarette smoke and dogs, and did not look properly cleaned. I was not placed in a pet-designated room, yet the odor was overwhelming. The long registration paperwork clearly states that smoking is prohibited, so walking into a room that smelled heavily of cigarettes was frustrating. To make matters worse, the bed sheets appeared to have already been used, and there were hairs and crumbs left in the bed. Cleanliness is the bare minimum a guest should expect, and this room failed to meet even basic standards. The bed was also very hard.
I brought my concerns to the front desk, and although the hotel was fully booked and I could not be moved, the evening employee handled the situation with kindness, professionalism, and a genuine apology. Because of the condition of the room, my husband and I made the decision to check out that same day. As a business owner myself, I can see the potential this property has, but that comes with having a strong team and a lot of renovations. It's 2026.
This morning, I returned to drop off our keys and to tell my family bye and I noticed another front desk employee who appeared to be crying and visibly upset. I honestly came to complain but I chose not to ask what was wrong because I did not want to make her feel worse. What stood out to me, however, was that despite appearing distressed, she continued doing her job with professionalism. While I was there, another guest came in and filled an entire cup with coffee, and she made sure the coffee was prepared and available without showing any frustration. She wished us to have a great day and kept her composure. That level of code switch and customer service did not go unnoticed, and I truly appreciated the effort she made despite whatever she may have been going through. If the two female employees that helped us sees this, I truly want you guys to know you are awesome and to keep up the good work because there will be people who won't take this lightly.
The breakfast area looked nice, but the actual options were disappointing and very sad. Having only one waffle maker for two hotels resulted in a long line and unnecessary wait times. It was a huge traffic jam, that back space is not big enough for the two to be combined.
Room: 0/10
Staff: 10/10
Location: 10/10
This property has an excellent location and employees who clearly care, but they can only do so much when the rooms and overall guest experience are not properly maintained. This hotel has the potential to be so much better, especially considering it is connected to Appenzell Inn, but until there are serious improvements needed to be implemented for cleanliness, upkeep, and guest accommodations, I would 100% choose to stay elsewhere on future visits to Estes Park.
I liked this location as it was within a 6 min drive to the center of Estes and of course close to Rocky Mountain Natl Park. I loved the outdoor seating in the front garden with the views of the mountains. The breakfast was sufficient and has great views of the mountains in the breakfast/reception area. I liked the wooden roof of the rooms. Turning left out on US 34 west there are these amazing views of the Rockies. I'd stay again
This is the only place to stay in Estes Park. An indoor and outdoor pools, a giant hot tub that would probably fit 15 at least. A sauna, and ping pong table, we enjoyed. Continental breakfast every morning, and free smores every evening. We sat on the office deck and say a huge mule deer buck grazing in front, and a bear up a tree out back. The friendliest staff I’ve ever met, and cleaning staff kept everything spotless. Close to town, and all attractions. The best vacation we’ve had in years. also the most economical we found.
The location is perfect and close to everything you want to see and do. The guy/gal duo at the front desk in the evenings are top notch. Kind, funny and very helpful. The guy in the mornings, not so much. The rooms are very clean, the pool and hot tub building are well maintained and there are many spots on the grounds provided to sit outside and enjoy the weather. Here is where ny 3 stars come in. The beds are uncomfortable. I talked with the guy at the desk in the morning after our first night and asked if it was at all possible for one new mattress in our double room. I. Completely understand thos is a big ask, and I was not at all demanding. But you don't know if it's possible if you don't ask. The man seemed very uninterested in finding out if that was an option, but told me he'd "check". The mattress was not changed and I received no communication at all that it was looked into. We booked the double room stand alone building, which is perfect for our family. However, the lodge is surrounded by their dumpster, in fact several piled high with old mattress. It's very off putting. The grounds keepers also park all around our building, and on the back side seems to be the path they take with their golf carts, leaf blowers and other noisy tools, right outside one of the bedroom windows. They attempt to block the view with half a privacy fence. All in all I would stay here again based on location, immeneties and cleanliness, but I would not stay in this building again. And may even bring a blow up mattress
