I want to give an honest and helpful review here, so I must start by challenging future guests with their reason for visiting Estes. IF you are planning to spend a lot of time at your hotel, you may want to spend more for nicer accommodations. However, if you will be doing lots of sightseeing and hiking, and your hotel will simply be a place to rest up for your next adventure, then this is the nicest place we have ever stayed in offered in this price range.
We LOVE how quiet Fall River Road is and the close access to the park. We also love the Fall River Visitor Center which is a great place to shop for souvenirs in all price ranges. We also love the hamburgers at the Wapiti restaurant right next door. Estes is crazy busy, we prefer quiet, and this area allows you to be close to everything yet not feel the hustle and bustle of being closer to town.
Let's talk about the units on the river where we stayed. We were so pleased with the amount of space our King unit had. The fireplace would have provided some great atmosphere had it not been so warm. The table with chairs, long dresser, decent size fridge, microwave, and Keurig coffee maker were all we needed. We always prefer a sink outside of the shower and toilet space as it makes getting ready easier, so that was perfect for us. Could it use some updating, yes, but please don't if it raises the price point.
Last but not least, the online instructions are lacking some details; however, you will be met with the kindest most helpful voice when calling to get those additional details. It gets 5 stars from us because we come for the adventures offered by visiting RMNP, and while the place we stay is not near as important to us, we were very comfortable staying at Nicky's Resort.
JULY- The Cabin was quiet, wonderful with comfortable beds and pillows.Could use some new living room chairs, broke and flaking upholstery. Decorated rustic with updated rooms/bathroom. Great location, miles from MRNF and close to town. Fun activities for kids. Not sure why says no restaurant..There's Wapiti on premises with good food $$ on the river. Very friendly, responsive staff, via text message ❤️ Free WiFi. Only real disappointment is when I booked in March said there was pool with pictures, 2nd reason I reserved...POOL was CLOSED. Otherwise it was a great stay! Would defiantly recommend if you don't want a pool.
The location is behind the Wapiti Pub, across a wooden bridge. Parking is adequate, but they are specific about who parks where. Check-in and check-out is by text and email: the keys are in a lock box for each room they send you the code for. Put the keys back when you leave, and text a number.
The rooms are nice, the bed is comfortable, the TV works. The plumbing for adjacent rooms on two floors are connected, so when anyone in the four rooms flush or shower, everyone in the other rooms knows it. Also, kids seem to like getting their zoomies running up and down the wooden walkway in front of the upper units. The Wapiti is handy for dinner that doesn't require driving.
We recently stayed at Nicky's Resort and overall had a great experience. For the price, you really can’t complain. It offers solid value, especially for the Estes Park area. The staff was extremely nice and welcoming. The property itself is simple but has everything you need for a relaxing stay, and the location is beautiful. If you’re looking for something affordable with great service and a peaceful setting, this is definitely a good option.
Pros: Excellecnt location between Estes Park and Rocky Mt National Park and situated right on the Fall River. Great restaurant (Wapiti) adjacent to Nicky's. Fridge, toaster, coffee maker & microwave included and all worked. Plenty of towels, nice shower/tub, K cups are included and air conditioning worked well (many places do not offer AC).
Cons: We did not care for the virtual checkin process and over the 3 days we were there, we witnessed pretty much every new arrival struggle to get into their rooms like we did. Our room was in rough shape - holes in the sliding screen door, leaking bathroom sink, some work had been done in the bathroom and they just left the drywall paste, no paint over the repairs. Newer laminate flooring was placed on top of old carpet was loud and spongy and did not bother to filling the seams along the walls so you could literally see the old carpet. There was a sticky spot on the floor by the door so I know the floors were not mopped between guests. Just overall not very clean. Our room had double beds with queen and king bedding on them which created a tripping hazard. Outdoor pool was advertised June- August but is appeared to also be in disrepair during our June stay.
We weren't there to spend time in a hotel room so this was all manageable but I would probably not stay here again. I would stay in this area, but just not this motel.
