Stayed overnight in late July and here's what you should know. Summerland is definately an accurate description during the day. Due to the burned out trees there is zero shade, so if you book this site have plenty of water and I reccomend a tarp or something you can use to create shade. It was hot! The elevated site feels about 10+ degrees hotter than the grassy meadow probably due to the rock and ground absorbing and reverberating the heat. You can walk across the meadow to the river to cool off, but still exposed. Night is a different story. The meadow cools quickly and the rocks hold warmth for a while. If the sky is clear the stars are awesome. Finally, if you look on a map there are two Sumerland sites. Due to the fire the one further from the trail head no longer exists. The one behind the big rock formation is it and the group site is now closer to the trailhead as well. Searched for about 2 hours to confirm. Would have rated it higher if there was shade or I didn't pick the dead of summer to book the site. Be prepared.
