We unexpectedly came across this trail in Grand Lake, CO. There’s good parking at the trailhead. The trail is quite remote, so you won’t run into many hikers even when the lot is full. Be sure to bring plenty of water and first aid supplies since it’s a long hike and you might not see anyone for a while.
An easy access point to the national parks. Lots of wildlife! Stunning views with beautiful and relatively easy trail.
Very pretty. It was a little difficult and very sad to hear about the fire that went through but a wonderful trip. Be careful for Moose, we saw 5.
I loved this trail. The trail goes through a burn scar, but the flowers are amazing. I also saw a few moose and deer. Made it to a nice little bowl at the foot of Flattop Mountain, a perfect place to rest before heading back. There are a few designated campsites along the way.
Nice easy hike with lots of wildlife! We saw a moose, blue heron, and lots of chipmunks and marmots. Not much shade tho. Parking is limited, I parked on W Portal and walked up.
