I stayed here in June 2026 for 2 weeks with my two dogs and my wife. The campground is lovely - our campsite was nestled in the trees and a we had a wonderful view of the mountains surrounding us. Bathrooms are convenient and kept very clean. Cleaning stations for washing dishes, likewise. Great for hiking (trailhead into the national park is very close) or just taking walks and enjoying scenery. I was here to visit my wife who was volunteering at the YMCA of the Rockies which is just a mile away on tunnel road. So it was convenient to the Y and also very convenient to everything in Estes Park, the national park, etc. Several times when the campground was less busy we had elks wandering through our campsite. Of course we were careful but it was wonderful to watch. The host staff were wonderful. Tip: The tent sites all seem to have very nice level platforms but some of the trailer sites will require aggressive leveling of your RV or trailer, so bring what you need for that. I was able to buy extra leveling squares from the camp store which was very convenient and camp host helped me level up. Thanks, Dan and Beverly (and Greg and Lin). We have been camping for decades and have traveled all over the continent with our little fiberglass RV. This is certainly one of the nicest campgrounds we found anywhere.

We love this camp ground! It’s the best in the area in our opinion. The bathrooms are the cleanest public bathroom we have seen, especially for a camp ground. There are clean showers and sinks with running water to wash your dishes. There are lots of trees for shade. We stayed at A41 and we were close to the bathrooms with plenty of shade. There were two trees that were perfect for hanging a hammock. There’s a deer that hangs out at the campsite. The hosts are also very friendly!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 – Camp Like a Champ at East Portal! Estes Park Campground at East Portal is where mountain magic meets "wow, I really can survive without cell service!" Nestled right at the edge of Rocky Mountain National Park, it’s the perfect combo of peaceful seclusion and chipmunks judging your s’mores technique. The campsites are shady, spacious, and come with built-in views that make you question why you ever paid for cable. Bonus points for the clean bathrooms (camping luxury!) and trailheads so close you could hike in your pajamas—though, you know, maybe don’t. If you're lucky, you’ll fall asleep to the hoot of an owl and wake up to elk casually strolling by like they own the place (because they kind of do). Pro tip: bring layers, a good camp chair, and your "wow" face—you’ll be using it a lot.

We’ve stayed here several times. Great campground for smaller campers and tenters! Friendly staff and nice restrooms with showers. Can hike right up to Sprague Lake in RMNP. Also nice and close to Estes Park.
