Alberta Falls was a beautiful and powerful. Starting from Bear Lake Trailhead, the trail to the falls is just under 1 mile one way and mostly shaded, making it a very comfortable walk. We returned via Glacier Gorge Trailhead.

Two of my grandsons and I took the short hike to Alberta Falls from the Glacier Gorge Junction trailhead. It is a beautiful trail, relatively gentle incline, mostly shaded by trees. You hike along the stream for much of the way; I love hiking in the mountains next to flowing water. The falls / cascade is a great destination; you can climb up to the head of the waterfall safely. Highly recommended if you are in the Bear Lake area of RMNP.

Within a mile or so from the trailhead, we were stunned by the beauty of the waterfall. We were here early April 2026 and the part of it was still frozen. So it looks even more magical. This is also a part of a longer, majestic route to more waters like Loch lake and Sky pond. So you can enjoy the wonder of the earth all the more.

Was unplanned hike but enjoyed it . Beautiful hike and was worth the seeing the falls . Next time will try the summertime.

Great waterfall along the journey to other trails. If you go to the top of the falls the view is simply gorgeous. It’s an easy hike and great for beginners but gives you the feel of something so much more as you can sort of climb the rock and more rough terrain. You can also descend down into the water if you wanted. Though the view from the trail is also great if you’re less adventurous!
