The last of the trio of lakes after Nymph Lake and Dream Lake. An absolute amazing way to reach the end of the trail. Being surrounded by the mountains is absolutely breathtaking. It's well worth the hike here.

This whole series of lakes (Nymph, Dream, Emerald) is stunning. The views of Hallett Peak from Dream and Emerald are particularly breathtaking. The combination of alpine peaks, snow, lakes, and evergreens creates a particularly beautiful landscape you don't see in other places. Now the trail conditions (hiked on April 21). The hike from Nymph to Dream is beautiful with an overall gradual incline the entire way, with one or two short steep sections. The snow/ice on the trail started about halfway between Nymph and Dream. I had microspikes and poles, and they were really helpful. However, you could still get up to Dream without them, just go slow. The trail from Dream to Emerald is completely covered in snow/ice but was much more level overall than from Nymph to Dream. Again, microspikes and poles are helpful, but would not be necessary.

Hiked to Emerald Lake starting at Bear Lake. Passed Nymph Lake, Dream Lake and everything beautiful in between. Hike was fantastic and would highly recommend. Like others have stated it is best to arrive early to avoid crowds and experience more solitude.

We hiked this in early March as an out and bake hike. Footing was packed snow and no issue with traction devices. The temperature wasn't too cold, but it did get very windy, and I don't think it was even a really windy day. Very pretty views both at the lake and on the hike. The trail was easy to follow in the snow. The lake was completely frozen and mostly snow covered. A fox was even spotted .

Quite a hike up, so a basic level of fitness is necessary to make it to the top. The views and the lake itself are breathtakingly beautiful
