The trail is stunning. If you love adrenaline, this path is for you. You have to cross snow (in early June) and climb two waterfalls. Boots suitable for snow are recommended. I really needed gloves for climbing the waterfalls; it’s very slippery.

We hiked to Mills Lake from the trailhead. It was picturesque and rewarding. In mid-March with cool temperatures and strong winds the conditions were challenging. The trail was packed snow, and some traction devices would be necessary. The trail was icy, slick, and very narrow in points due to the snow. There were some very windy spots, and the conditions in the parking lot give you an idea of what you'll face ahead. This was about a 5 mile hike, and took us about 3 hours. The trailhead parking lot is medium sized, but had restrooms.

Arrived by 7:30am today and there was plenty of parking but when I returned from my hike at 11:30am, it was packed. Nice bathrooms and picnic tables with secure garbage cans. You can access Alberta Falls and/or the three lakes - Nymph, Dream, and Emerald. Super windy on a snowy day! I couldn't have done it without my microspikes.

This trail head off of Bear Lake Road offers lots of great hiking options. The hike to Mills Lake is beautiful any time of year and very doable even for people coming from lower elevations. On this day we ventured up to the Loch for the second time this winter. There are some steep sections on this trail that will get your blood pumping, but it is well worth the effort to reach the destination. There is a vault toilet at this trail head. If the parking here is full, venture father down Bear Lake Rd. to the main parking and you can take the roughly 1 mile hike to access the trails off of Glacier Gorge.

Started at bear lake and hiked down to glacier gorge trail. There is parking at the trailhead but it fills up fast. You can try to park at bear lake or at the park and ride and catch the shuttle. Took the trail to Alberta Falls and then onto Mills Lake. The hike to Alberta is fairly short if you are just starting out but Mills Lake was breathtaking and you pass Glacier Falls on the way. This was a lovely well maintained trail with tge perfect amount of incline to get your heart pumping. 5.2 miles 850ish ft of elevation.
Starting/ending point for a short nature trail looping around a scenic, high-altitude lake.
Moderate hike to an alpine lake ringed with rugged cliffs & pines, within a glacial canyon.
