went there on march 26th. the hike was challenging, I would highly recommend spikes and poles for support if going outside the months of june-july. however, I did the hike with only hiking boots and my hands. the trail past the loch is where it becomes harder. the trail becomes nearly indistinguishable between the snow buildup. snow was constantly up to my hip. had to scale the waterfall to get up to the ascent of lake of glass. once up the waterfall, i had to scale up the trail on snowy and icy rocks. take your time here and at the waterfall, where one slip will cause at least an injury. once up at the lake of glass, the view is breathtaking. the wind will pick up, however, it was not to cold, i wore only a sweatshirt, sweatpants, and gloves. i tried to get to sky pond, however, the trail at this point is completely gone due to the crazy amount of snow. i also did breakthrough the frozen ice trying to get to sky pond. i had a change of clothes thankfully, so i was ok, but walking across the lake currently is not something i would recommend. overall, the trip was extremely challenging, but worth it and easily one of the prettiest things i’ve ever seen. please prepare accordingly, i hiked close to 10-11 miles.

I went there on 6/22. Still need to go through the snow covered slope. Will be challenging and risky without microspikes. And you have to climb up 30 ft high waterfall that I'm sure people already know. Going up and back at the water fall are both very scary. It needs the best judgment to find a safe path. But I would say that all these efforts are worthy. You will be rewarded by fantastic view from both the lake and overlook.

The trail up to the Lake of Glass when we went in early July included a rock scramble up a short waterfall. There was also snow along the trail that got slippery but sliding down the snow made getting down much faster. If you’re looking for Sky Pond, don’t stop here! Keep going a little further to reach it! It can be easy to mistake this Lake for the Sky Pond.

The penultimate lake before you make it to Sky Pond. Depending on the time of year, it definitely feels a lot colder after climbing up Timberline Falls and getting to Lake of Glass. It can also be a bit difficult finding the trail once you've reached this point. But keep going another 10 minutes, and you'll be at Sky Pond.

Hiked on Saturday 09/26/20. It was a free entry day into the park so we expected it to be crowded. We arrived at 6am and the parking lot was full, so we took the shuttle to the trailhead. The trail really wasn't that full, we saw people every few minutes but it was by no means crowded. We were on the trail no later than 730am and when we were heading back out (approx 11:00am) the traffic did start to pick up significantly. Really loved this hike. The path is very well kept and lots of great scenery along the way. Once you get to the waterfall climb that leads you to the Lake of Glass/Sky Pond, it does get more difficult. Lake of Glass was EXTREMELY windy (I could barely hold my phone in my hand to take a photo). We clocked a total of 8.65 miles, taking 4hrs.
