A winding alpine stream cuts through a wildflower meadow with backcountry campsites and layered Colorado peaks beyond.

That's my biggest disappointment today. The information there is incomplete or misleading. The area is not impressive. The water in the lake contains yellow alge. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

Amazing National Park to visit or camp at and explore on foot or by vehicle! The hiking trails are amazingly beautiful but some are lengthy so make sure to allow yourself several hours of daylight to get the most out of your visit. HAVE FUN! 😉

Containing five major reservoirs: Lake Granby, Shadow Mountain Lake, Monarch Lake, Willow Creek Reservoir and Meadow Creek Reservoir, the Arapaho NRA is a 35,000 acre "scenic water wonderland" in the upper reaches of the Colorado River Valley. You can boat, camp, hike, fish, ice fish, snowmobile, view wildlife, horseback ride and even hold events in a rustic barn.
