We enjoyed the tour and the guide, Stephen. He was a pleasure to speak to and was very informative. Also an Air Force veteran. This was a nice laid back visit to Grand Lake after a few busy days in RMNP.

The nicest tour lady, please come visit this place such a pleasure visiting this delightful historic site, and I must say it exceeded all my expectations. The tour guide was incredibly kind and knowledgeable, making the experience both informative and enjoyable. The interior is beautifully preserved, with period furnishings and decor that transport you back in time. The exterior, set against a stunning natural backdrop, adds to the overall charm. If you’re in the area, this is a must-visit spot. Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates history and warm hospitality!”

My wife and I love to step back in time and see things how others would have seen it over a hundred years ago. Learning the history of the great lake and the Kauffman house family history was eye opening and was made 10 times better by the Vietnam vet that does the tour guide, he has so much enthusiasm for what he does and it is transferred to his guests. My wife and I learned a lot!

This was such an awesome step back in time! We got a wonderful tour of the first floor from the volunteer at the front desk. He was able to demonstrate some of the items and how they worked - including a lantern, a vacuum cleaner and a washing machine. It's well worth the stop. We spent about 45 minutes here walking around and seeing everything. They have curated some lovely exhibits. And yes - you can go upstairs and take a look at the bedrooms. The renovations are so great. It made this history major very happy.

I’ve before and after picture taken of this place from 2012 and 2023. This place oversees the grand lake, is close by a famous ice-cream shop and the area in itself offers a lot of water sport activities

Easygoing timber outpost offering an array of snacks & ice cream scoops with varied toppings.

Peanut shells on the floor & Western decor adorn this historic go-to for barbecue specialties.
