Restaurant was clean and had a nice atmosphere. Staff was helpful but also a little odd, our waitress had a little bit of attitude and another server started talking to a neighboring table about moving us to facilitate their group. We would have moved to help but it would have been nice to be asked first instead of the server saying “I’ll make it happen”. The Rocky Mountain Elk Burger, Hunters Elk Burger, BBQ Pulled Rib Sandwich, and Bacon Cheeseburger were enjoyed by all. The fries were average including the sweet potato fries. Overall the price was good for the quality of the food. Would eat here again and recommend to others.
Hands down our favorite restaurant in Grand Lake! We loved it so much that we came back the very next day.
The menu has plenty of options, and everything we ordered on both visits was fresh, flavorful, and served in huge portions. Prices were around $20–$40 per person, but every meal felt completely worth it considering the quality and portion sizes. Even though the restaurant stayed busy, the kitchen was impressively fast.
The atmosphere was great, and the service was just as good. Our waiter, Cody, was unique, hilarious, and made both visits even more enjoyable.
As an added bonus, they sell shirts and hats that were great quality and about half the price of the souvenir shops around the square.
Not a single person in our family was disappointed with anything we ordered. Our only complaint is that they aren’t located closer to us in Texas! Highly recommend if you’re visiting Grand Lake.
Honest review, food: amazing, service: not so good.
we chose to eat here because when you look at reviews of all the other restaurants in Grand Lake they are terrible. we came here for dinner and came back for breakfast. At dinner the restaurant was super busy so to me that was a good sign. They still sat us quite fast. We got a great table by the window. The food was absolutely amazing, we got the trout and was super fresh and the gravy on the mash potatoes was to die for.
The server forgot about our drinks and we got them when we were almost done with our food. I ordered a frozen margarita with strawberry and it was not good, my boyfriend’s drink was the Miami vice and it was amazing. I ended up drinking half of his. I told the server that the drink was not good and couldn’t drink it and she stared at me blankly, didn’t address the situation, didn’t say sorry, didn’t offer another drink, and still charged us for it (it was a $16/$18 dollar drink) now, I am a food server myself, and when a customer tells me they don’t like their drink, I comp it from their bill or ask if they want something else, as a server I want customers to be satisfied, so yeah this was super odd also considering she forgot our drinks for 20 min.
(Ps: if you are a server and make the customer happy by fixing a problem you get a better tip)
Regardless of this we decided to come back next morning for breakfast because it was my boyfriend’s birthday and he really liked the food and also I overheard this server that she had another job in the morning so we were hoping to get a better server.
Next morning we did have a better server, he was great, the benedicts and iced latte were delicious. the only problem we encountered is that we went inside the restaurant to announce ourselves to get sat and the lady at the bar told us to go upfront, there was another customer behind us trying to sit after us and she went ahead and sat at the table we wanted to sit and they didn’t tell her to go upfront, I don’t know maybe they knew her.
With that being said, the food is great, but don’t expect fair service, in the end it is the best restaurant in a small mountain town and they can get away with the service they want (I know this, I lived in a small mountain town in Colorado for 10 years and I know how hard it is to even hire good staff) I hope maybe the manager would read this and if they up their service the restaurant will always be a solid 5 stars ⭐️
Coming from Topeka, Kansas—just a stone's throw from Kansas City—I don't hand out BBQ compliments lightly. I've eaten at some of the best BBQ joints anywhere, so my expectations were pretty low.
Sagebrush absolutely delivered.
The BBQ sauce was exceptional. It had a great balance of sweetness, tang, and smoke that complemented the meat instead of overpowering it. The ribs were tender with just the right amount of bite, and the brisket was moist, flavorful, and cooked exactly the way it should be.
Great food, friendly service, and a welcoming atmosphere made for an outstanding meal. If you're in Grand Lake and craving BBQ, don't let the fact that you're in the Colorado mountains fool you—this place serves BBQ that's worth the stop.
We'll definitely be back the next time we're in town.
Exceptional service and welcoming staff. We got cheese quesadillas, spinach artichoke dip app, southwest burger, and chicken with spaghetti. We liked the appetizer and quesadilla the best. The place can get pretty crowded so reservation is recommended especially at peak lunch and dinner time.
