We've camped at several campsites throughout Colorado and this location is among the top five. The camp site was easy to locate and they layout was great. Our pad was large with a picnic table and fire pit nearby. There was a restroom up the trail or two very clean portable restrooms next to us with a potable drinking faucet in between. The camp host did not sell firewood but gave us a great suggestion of where to get some. The lake was very low, not sure if because of the drought or because they had drained it for winter months but it looked bleak. Noise level was moderate, we were close to the highway and can hear cars pass. Black birds woke us up like roosters croaking in the morning. Didn't see too much wildlife just you're occasional chipmunk, humming bird, and robins. There were several trail hikes within the campground, and if you walk on the road watch out for on coming vehicles. I highly recommend staying here. The mountain views and night sky is phenomenal

Solid camp ground. Not many trees thanks to bark beetles, but you can find fairly shaded sites. Facilities are old but reasonably maintained. Lake is low, but not TOO low as of mid July. Proximity to grandby and grand lake is great.

Disappointing experience. We arrived at the campground around 3 p.m., but there was no one at the check-in booth. Since we had been told that only one vehicle was included in the campsite fee, we paid for our two additional vehicles ($8 per day each) at the kiosk by the entrance, only to later discover that the kiosk was for boat parking, not campground vehicles. No instructions given on how to pay for campground parking fees. Campfires and charcoal grills were not allowed, even in the designated enclosed fire areas, despite there being no active fire restrictions in the surrounding area. We also received no instructions or information about campsite rules upon arrival. After we finished setting up our tents, two campground hosts drove up in a golf cart at around 7 p.m. and rather rudely told us that our tents could not extend beyond the designated tent pad. The problem was that the tent pad was only large enough for one medium-sized tent, even though the campground advertises that each site accommodates up to 8 people. There were 7 of us with three tents, so we had no choice but to place one tent slightly outside the pad. After spending time setting everything up, we were forced to move our tents and squeeze into a much smaller space. They also did not allow us to park all of our vehicles at the campsite even though we managed to fit all our cars in our site and they told us to park at the overflow area which is far from campsite. The shower facilities were severely broken. Only one shower was partially functional, while the others had reportedly been out of service for years. Despite the lack of maintenance, the campground continues to charge the full camping fee. Finally, Lake Granby is experiencing severe drought conditions (in early July) so don’t expect the beautiful lake views shown in older photos. Overall, this was not a great camping experience. The customer service was bad, the facilities were poorly maintained, and the campsite rules were enforced without reasonable accommodation. I would avoid this campground unless you specifically need a site with water and electrical hookups, as those are relatively limited in the area.

I dont know why this place only has 3 stars! The views alone are worth 5. I gave it 4 because the water system is down and there are porta potties instead for the bathrooms. And from the looks of the maintenance documentation inside of them, its been months and they havent resolved the issue. The camp sites are clean and the bear boxes are super useful and spacious. The picnic tables at the sites are all wood and of varying conditions. There are a multitude of options for types of sites and if sites havent been rented they say open and you can claim them, however, you have to pay cash or check in the moment. There are tent only sites, day use, and rv sites with electrical hookup. Water currently unavailable. Definitely would come back and hopefully for longer!

Tim and Luann, one of the campground host couples helped us Monday evening when we got there to find the best spot which was 65A which overlooked the lake. It was near the restrooms, water, and trash areas and one of the restroom buildings had showers in it that were free. I definitely recommend this campground.The only negative was there are not any trees in the campground area for shade. The water level was low too.
